20 Mule Team Borax
Review & Giveaway
(1/15 - 1/31)
All-Natural Detergent Booster with Odor Control, 20 Mule Team Borax increases your detergent's power and controls odors to give you fresh, clean laundry.
This is my first experience using 20 Mule Team Borax as a laundry booster. I have used Borax for many different craft activities and science type experiments, but since I have extremely hard water, almost to the point of wanting to move from our current home because of it, I was more than excited to try it out. I first read all the instructions (this doesn't usually happen lol) and followed them almost to a T. The only thing I did differently was, where it said to let your laundry soak for a half hour before starting your washer, I let it set for an hour. Mainly because I wanted to give it all the chance in the world to work. I put all my jeans, that have slowly turned dingy do to the hard water, into the washer, let set for an hour and then impatiently waited for the cycle to finish.
Once the washer had completed the cycle, I immediately took my laundry out and started to inspect it. Honestly I couldn't tell if it had worked or not, I figured all right well at least they are clean, and the Borax has no smell, so I didn't have to worry about that. When transfering the clothes to the dryer one thing that caught my eye was that my washer looked cleaner. Now that I wasn't expecting and made me pleasantly surprised.
After the drying cycle had finished I brought the whole load out to the living room to start folding, the worst pair of my jeans that I added to the wash, still had the hard water discoloration to them, but in defense of Borax, they had been through a lot and I knew I was grasping at straws with that pair. The second pair I looked at were a lot newer and all the browning/orangish hard water color that had started to appear on the pant legs were gone!! I mean not a trace. I have used MANY different stain boosters in my laundry from powders to liquids and NONE of them have taken the discoloration out of my jeans, especially on one wash!
Okay, well that was awesome. So lets try the towels. They don't look that dingy because I bought and decorated my bathroom in a brown color, so I wasn't expecting to notice a huge difference. However I was wrong. Yep I said it, wrong. The one thing I did notice and so did my husband later that evening was they actually felt softer. Now at first I thought maybe it was just me, because I was so happy about my jeans, but later that night while my husband was getting ready for work, he asked me if I bought new towels. I said no why? His words were, I don't know, they seem softer... then looked at me like I was lying. Yep. It's official 20 Mule Team Borax is now going to be a staple in our home.
I know this seems hard to believe, a simple, extremely inexpensive product could work so well, but I'm telling you, if you have any kind of annoying hard water you have got to try 20 Mule Team Borax for yourself. Now with that being said it's.....
